About Me
My name is George Millican and I am an artist currently living in Greer, South Carolina. I was born in New Haven and raised in Wallingford, Connecticut. Having a wooded backyard as my playground I grew up loving nature and appreciated the joy it brought me. My Inspiration has always been how trees and light coexist. The memories of those early years have sculpted me into the person I am today.
I joined the Air Force and graduated with a bachelor's degree in graphic design from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. I went on to create wall murals, greeting cards, magazine illustrations and billboard designs. While raising two wonderful sons my career took on many forms from owning a gift shop, art gallery, bookstore and a variety of retail and security management positions. I have lived in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and now South Carolina. After retiring at the age of 62, I am now pursuing my dream as a contemporary artist. I love working in acrylics with an emphasis on textures and nature.
My Work has been on display in a variety of galleries from Portugal to Soho, NY. I was commissioned to do a wall mural in the Azores Islands, Portugal as well as one in a community college in Waterbury, Connecticut. I am proud to say I have over 400 pieces of art in private home collections.
